Gabriela Pieniazek (@honeybeecountess) is a Polish photographer based in Scotland. She is a recent graduate from the Professional Photography Undergraduate program at Robert Gordon University. In 2018 she was awarded the Student of the Year Award by the British Institute of Photography with her series ‘The Hollow Men,’ which also won in the Visual Arts category.

Her particular focus on conceptual portraiture can be seen through the thoroughly detailed narratives of her images that observe and contemplate the absurdities of daily life within the limitations of human existence.

 

By contemplating for herself, and on behalf of her audience, the frantic non-stop nature of modern living she postulates the need to embrace this dynamic and ride the wave, constantly considering, changing and adjusting rather than just going with the flow. An active living rather than a complacent atrophy and death.
